manual locking hubs was created by mag
Hi all , i`m sure it`s been asked but I can`t find it , if replacing the auto hubs with manual locking hubs , is it a simple remove the old ones and fit the new ones , would be getting good ones from jimny bits shop , and what grease would you use , is it just a light smear or pack it full , I`m no mechanic but looks like a simple job so would rather not pay a garage £150 to fit them if I can do it myself . thanks for any help from this not very technical person

They need the littlest bit of lubrication. Fitting is straight forward just don't go mad tightening the hardware as the cone washers on the hub side are sintered and quite delicate and the little bolts for the covers are tiny, I'd also put some kind of anti seizure compound on the little bolts too as they try and corrode to the covers and can be brutal to remove. Otherwise you will need to either bridge the vacuum pipes up by the solenoid block under the battery or bridge the wires on the solenoid. The vacuum pipes are easier to put back to standard if you need to.

Physically fitting the hubs is straight forward but whether or not 4wd works afterwards is not guaranteed. What year is the Jimny and what is the reason for fitting manual hubs?
