Hey
I got some aftermarket front speakers awhile back for my 2022 gen 4 jimny

They sound good but occasionally stop working every so often and I can go without any music for a week at times and then it starts working again?

The headunit is still stock.
I had suzuki look at it thinking it was a faulty headunit, they replaced it with a new one but same issue?

They then plugged stock speakers back in and it they worked.

But

I've left my speakers i bought in it currently until.i possibly buy a new headunit and that may solve the problem.

The speakers are a infinity REF-5032CFX,  3 ohm speaker.

Is the 3 ohm impedance an issue with the stock headunit?

Im.just confused as it sometimes works but then out of the blue the music just stops for a few days to possibly a week then kinda just starts again?

Possibly a volume thing?
3ohm speakers will draw more current than the 4ohm speakers it was designed for (someone will have to correct me if I'm wrong on that, it's been a while since I upgraded mine)
Assuming that's the case, the head unit may not like the extra current draw and is cutting out.
Either a new head unit or swapping to 4ohm speakers should fix it.

Not sure about the gen4 but I know the gen 3 head units are not that powerful.

That's just my experience working with my gen3.

Yeah in effect you are asking the head unit to work harder and it's protecting itself by switching off.

Lambert is correct, the output stages are shutting down due to the low impedance.  It’s probably right on the edge, so sometimes it’s fine and other times it refuses.  It most likely changes with temperature and battery voltage might impact on the sensing circuit.

I left the stock speakers in the front and fitted a pair of Pioneer to the rear, they weren’t expensive, about £15 I think and seem fine above the road noise.
