I am unsure what the revs were but I do not think it was revving high but the car was flat out.
I have trawled the internet and everything points to plug/coil failure so I need to test them if I can.
Your help is much appreciated.

There are other things besides plug/coil failure that can contribute to a "loss of power", and from my experience, on a four cylinder engine, plug/coil failure will almost always result in a noticeable misfire that can be both heard & felt, so I tend not to associate plug/coil failure with "loss of power", not because it doesn't cause a loss in power, but because the other symptoms are much more evident.
As mentioned earlier a blocked exhaust is a possibility, another is simply wear, an engine with worn rings/bores will have low compression and will be low on power

Agree with fordem above. Coils are Electronic devices so when failing, most often when hot, they tend to intermittently go out with no spark result and a very noticable misfire.
Blocked exhaust is more common to cause loss of power and if you changed one cat there must have been debris that might still be in there.
I have a worn engine. Loss of power is noticable but not very much. More noticable is the plume of smoke after going downhill in low gear.

I have been away for a few days so mamny thanks for the helpfull advice.
I have just started the Jimny, at the first turn of the key, and let it run for 20 minutes and revved it quite hard several times and I do not think it is miss firing but after it had stood for another twenty minutes it was less easy to start.
I have looked at the new section of the exhaust which was replaced to pass the MOT and it has two boxes/filters/cats in the mid section so it seems unlikely that a blocked exhaust is the problem. I even jacked up the back end and the rear wheels spin easily so I do not think I have a sticking brake. The problem occurs, I think when it has run for a while and the engine is hot but beyond that I am at a loss where to look. I took the cover off the plugs and coils and it is as clean as a whistle. The engine oil also looks pretty clean on the dipstick and the filler cap.
Again any suggestion however minor will be welcome with open arms.
It is enormously frustrating when I can screw broken bones together but cannot diagnose Jimmy's ailment.
Frustrated Stalker etc!!!

Firstly front brake calipers sticking
I've had a rear silencer collapse internally resulting in power loss
Only 2 bolts to remove it then take it for a drive
When you return home feel the front wheels for heat if you can't stand the heat on your hands sticking callipers
Brakes will stick harder with extreme heat

It seems a lot of people on the internet are looking for "I had the same problem, here's how I fixed it" type solutions. In the interest of "full disclosure", I'll provide a little more detail that I usually see.
The vehicle in question is a 2024 built, five door Jimny with automatic transmission, so still under warranty, last Monday on my way to work, it was noticeably lacking in power, not accelerating the way it normally would.
When I got to work and investigated, the rubber floor mat was curled under the accelerator pedal preventing it from being fully depressed, most likely as a result of my not taking enough care when replacing it after cleaning the car the previous day.
