Just curious as to what people think of the factory Dunlop they put on the vans? Obviously I'm not looking at charging them till they're worn but how long do they last and what are they like for traction just to know what to expect?

One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.

I was so unimpressed with them that I changed them out after the first service (5000km, 6 months), so I can't comment on longevity.

Almost every one I know with a Gen4 on the AT20s changed them out early.

I have ca 13k miles on mine, they might be half-worn or so.

They are lightweight and so are frugal with fuel on the motorway; that's about the best that can be said of them.

They are a bit better than the Bridgestone Dueler fitted to the first Gen4s.  If you say that is "damning with faint praise," well...

We also can't really comment on the standard tires as all of ours got swapped out straight away. I would agree with the comment above though that the best thing about the standard tires is the fuel economy. They are the best tire for fuel economy. Looks wise they just don't cut it for me. The Gen 4 is suited to fatter tires to fill the arches and give it the wider stance.

You of all people should know I'm not bothered about aesthetics just performance.

Interesting that 13k is half worn, that's good for me as the duelers were hanging in there at 52k, admittedly the rubber was hard and crazed. 26 to 30 and finished suits me!

Performance wise I think the standard tires are the best to get the most out of the car. When I drove our lcv with its standard tires on it felt much more agile & quicker (In Jimny terms) along with better fuel economy 37mpg or more with the standard tires whereas it's a struggle getting past 34mpg with my mud tires. Of course I know my mud tires are bigger & heavier so accept the drawbacks of that but I Like the way the car looks with them. Most tend to opt for all terrains which is the preferred & most sensible choice. On the plus side if you stay with the standard tires there will be no shortage of spares as I'm pretty sure most people have the spare set lying around. We have a spare standard set.
