Not sure if I really want one or not. But thinking of a bit of overlanding style laning next year. And the Jimny is too small to sensibly sleep in. So I was thinking some sort of roof bar/rack and a batwing style awning.
Any suggestions? I see Jimnystyle has the Front Runner one. But it looks horrendously pricey.

From what research I have done some of these awnings are nearly the roof load limit on their own. Add in a platform which are also not the lightest of things and you are soon well over the limit. This is why I only have a pair of cross bars to maximize the available payload, not as cool looking but very practical.

There are awnings that provide allmost as much space and a bit more headroom, like the Moon Shade Awning
and similar designs.
Much cheaper and lighter than the 270 awnings.
I have mounted a C-profile aluminium bar to the roof of my trailer and slide in a cheap awning. but i would like a similar design to the moon shade or the easy camp flex so that it is possible to stand underneath.

I've done a few green laning and camping trips in the Jimny. I stick my camping gear in the boot and go. The "overlanding" scene seems to be more about bolting accesories on the car than actually doing anything adventurous. The outside of the car is the last place I'd want to attach anything if I'm driving off-road all day.
