Dampening dash tray

Hi guys
I bought a dash tray off ebay and I presume most are clones of each other. While the quality was very high, I was a bit surprised how 'tappy' the plastic is. Given it is going to sit in front of the sound reflective windscreen and hold hard things like keys, coins, pens, I was thinking it could rattle and be a bit noisy.
I had a bit of spare flashing tape (like thin sound proofing) and so I coated the pockets in the moulding. I didnt need to make it neat as its hidden from view. The result was a much quieter sounding tray. Well worth the 5 mins and $5 effort.
Ill try this on the centre console tray next.

Did it not come with a little rubber mat to fit inside? Mine did.

Yes, it came with a larger rubber matt and little strip matt for the phone holder area. Thats great for the bed of the tray.
Im 3 months into a likely 6 month wait for the vehicle, so I couldnt trial the tray to see how noisy it is in actual use. Maybe fixing it to the dash tones down the tappy tone?
