8.2 liters per 100 km = 34.4 mpg. The lowest I get is 42mpg.

6.1 " " " " = 46.3. " I have reached 49.5 mpg

As Busta said, the only benefits, that we can see are the aesthetics.

Either mine is broken or those numbers seem very ambitious. They are way above what Suzuki even claim and everyone knows the EDEC and new Euro fuel cycles gives numbers that are usually unattainable in the real world.

I can only presume you spend you entire driving time at 45-50mph in 5th and never go above 2000rpm.

To 300bhpton.

Yes, the 49.5mpg was unusual, I just wanted to see what I could achieve, but getting a high figure isn't just driving slowly, it's about keeping up a constant speed at moderate engine revs and not driving on the brakes. I love out cornering people who tail gate me but have to slow on bends.

42mpg is a bad day, comprised of stop start crawl here crawl there. Redditch is at the hub of various main roads and motorways and driving is never easy or in any way relaxing. Reasonable traffic and speeds will see an easy 44-45 mpg.

If it's of any interest, I spent an interesting few years on engine testing with the Rover Co. Ltd. I quickly learnt the relationship between revs, load and fuel consumption. It was very useful for driving in the real world.

In the Mobil economy run the professional drivers obtained exceptional economy figures simply because they knew how to drive for the most efficient use of fuel.
