First time I have really looked at this properly, but if you look at the  JimnyBits , quick disconnect. It looks like the kit is made of two tubes that fit over the sway bar by a good amount and the mounts are up close to the tube ends, so they should move apart.
Also with the grease nipple being there, I'm guessing the actual joint is a bar and sleeve affair that rotates in itself. Not as simple as cutting the bar and welding plate to the cut ends.
They also offer a ready welded one, don't know if that is on exchange basis?

Would like to know if the Gen3 and Gen4 sway bar is the same part number?
Unfortunately they are not the same on the Gen 3 and Gen 4. They are very different. The Gen 4 has a much thicker bar.

I think from memory that the gen3 was variously equipped with 3 different sway bars, early ones being thinner, I want to say something like 19 or 20mm diameter then the later ones were 22 or 23mm and finally the diesel had a 25mm diameter. I looked into the diesel variety when I was chasing lap times but I wasn't able to find one at sensible prices. Now I am inclined to see about a thinner one to free some articulation without hassle of a disconnect. The issue though is that really all this is just tweaks on the edges of the actual problem. Unfortunately with a Jimny the relative weight of the unsprung elements is quite a high proportion against the overall weight of the car so the ride is never going to be perfectly smooth. I noticed that when driving Leviathan where the weight of the unsprung elements are a lower proportion of the weight of the car, she just glides over irregularities in a way that Temeraire simply can't.

Temeraire (2018 quasar grey automatic)
One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.

Thanks, I thought that might be the case, otherwise I'm sure Jimnybits would have listed the Quick Disconnect for the Gen4 also.

The Gen 4 is obviously softly sprung, and relies on the sway bars for on-road stability.
I would be very careful driving the vehicle at speed on the road with the sway bars disconnected.

There was a case some years ago on the Land Rover forum where someone fitted a lift kit and associated aftermarket dampers to a Defender 110, but they removed the sway bars for "better off road articulation"

On the way back from getting these parts fitted, the vehicle got into a side to side swaying motion on the motorway and ended up on its side in the outside lane.

The driver was OK. There was some talk of suing the specialist who did the suspension.

Normally, removing the sway bars wouldn't be an issue on a Defender, as the standard springs are very stiff.
In fact the base models aren't fitted with sway bars, they are only fitted from the factory if the original owner specified alloy wheels.

I had the side to side swaying with my gen 4 when it was brand new, but that was trying to see how fast I could get it to go. Very scary when it started swaying at 150kph.

More recently I have experienced swaying when heavily loaded, but we found the front shocks had started leaking.

Front shocks are leaking already? That should be a warranty issue. How many miles has it done?
