Fuel pump access hole was created by justintime441
Good day to all.
I Will be removing the carpets and interior soon to line the floor with a bed liner, in preparation for some water crossings and to add a bit of sound deadening. I was thinking I could cut out the floor in order to gain access to the fuel pump in the tank in case of a later replacement. Is this possible? I haven't dropped the tank before to see how it looks or where it's located in relation to the floor. Does it use a lock ring which has to be hammered out? Or is it a couple bolts that holds the pump in?
Cheers all. **Gen 3 jimny, 2006**

As there is very little difference in the work involved in changing the pump from inside or outside, I would not do this.
There is also the obvious advantages from taking the tank out from underneath the car as this gives you the possibility of doing rust treatment, changing hoses, and giving you a better place on a bench to work on the tank.

Pump is held in by 8 bolts if i remember right
Personaly i would cut the hole
Yakuza does have a good point about access to sort rust out though
It's not so easy to drop the tank prop, exhaust, filler hoses all have to be removed
Then you have the bolts on tank with captive nuts.........very rusty and may snap

Thanks I'm gonna look about cutting it out, my jimny doesn't have rust like others I've seen here. Caribbean weather and not close to the sea. I've also preventatively undercoated everything from the tank forward
