Hi Roger,
Happy to hear you are on the move again. It's good the Jimny started for you, but in the world of automotive 12v batteries 12.0 volts or below is considered to be fully discharged. A good battery at rest will be 12.5 or above.
No immediate problem, but extended periods below 12v can reduce its lifespan. So maybe the Suzuki recommendation of every 4 weeks is to prevent it falling this low so should be followed.
if you are going to leave it you don't need to go to the expense of C-Tech chargers (nothing against them), but Aldi / Lidl sell one every year for £14 ish or you can get similar on Amazon for £17. Worth getting one for the toolbox.
All the bestMike

I have an old  Oxford Optimate3SP , from my two (and three) wheeling days. I have twice tried it on the Jimny, once straight to the battery using the quick connect leads and once with the earth going to an earth point and not the battery. Both times after a while of being on charge it started to flash the DRLS. I have swapped the originals to  Osram LEDriving Fog/DRL  that I removed from my previous car. I presume the flashing is to do with these being aftermarket and have there own wiring loom and control box, so are not a straight plug& play swap?

Yes it's likely it's the aftermarket DRL controller, especially if it's the automatic variety. They look at the battery voltage to determine that the engine is running and then turn the DRLs on / off accordingly. Most intelligent chargers pulse the battery voltage, so the DRL controller can incorrectly think the car is being started. Won't cause any issues other than your lights all be like a disco.:D
