3 Rear Window Tinting - 20% or 35%? was created by Blueisthecolour
Hi all
I have my Jimny booked in with a tinting company to have the rear (B pillar backwards) and I’m undecided whether to go for 20% or 35%... I’m looking for a ‘stock/standard’ look
Thoughts please

Personally I would suggest a fairly light tint. My back windows are opaque curtesy of the van conversion and a pain. Dark looks gangster but it's not too practical.

Like Lambert says it does you no favours when reversing in the dark
I would have sides darker than rear
I use the mesh things from suzuki but only on side windows rear is clear

I did my own with film from Halfords which reports to be 15%. The sides are easy, the rear window not so, hence I only have side tints. I actually don't mind the side only tint now as it achieve the look was after and I have absolutely no issues at night.

As a direct side view the tint looks darker than it actually is due to both side windows lining up, you are effectively looking through two tints.
Side view:-

From within it looks a lot lighter, you can see this in the following picture if you look through the side / rear window, so that's only 1 tint in play.

I would happily go darker than 15% as it has no noticeable impact from within, so 20% is going to give you the look without compromise to night driving if you are having all three windows tinted.
Get them hold some film to the windows before you decide.

Thanks guys appreciate your time - I know Lambert you and I have quickly spoken about these tints maybe a week or so ago, and I will definitely heed your advice. I’m thinking 20%. Scimike, really appreciate you taking the time to photo the differences. Great idea about asking them to hold up the differences, they might even have a glass wall for demos.
I will post up some pics when it’s done, not happening for a few weeks yet
Cheers all, Andy
