Hi All,

I have been building a trailer to tow my motorcycle around behind the Jimny.

I currently have standard bulbs on the trailer for brake lights, indicators etc. I am swapping them out to LEDs which use 12v but they aren't working when connected to the tow bar 7 pin flat plug.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do or how to overcome this issue?

thanks,

If you have fitted LED bulbs into standard holders, they may need turning round - in some instances LEDs only work when fitted in one position

IF IT AINT BROKE, KEEP FIXING IT UNTIL IT IS

Also especially with indicators the resistance of leds can be too low needing additional inline resistors. I had that when I redid the lights on my old sankey.

Oh, they are entirely lights and housing.

I am not just replacing the bulbs. I'm replacing entire lighting system with new LED housings

They are polarity sensitive which bulbs are not, check you have things the correct way around. I have LED light clusters on my caravan and they work ok (GEN3) with the exception of the indicator blown buzzer (part of tow electrics), the current is too low to make this sound. I could fit a resistor to reinstate this function if I wanted.

First, I would try the trailer lights directly with a external battery and two wires, then with the lights fitted to the trailer using the trailer plug. See if they work.

Next I would use a multimeter to check the trailer plug of the Jimny.

When I used LED lights, I had to get another electric box for the trailer lights. The original did not work with LEDs.
