I have just quickly browsed the thread regarding alarms which is now locked. Despite low vandalism and vehicular break ins here, I always installed alarms with remote locking in my vehicles if they did not have a factory one fitted one.

I believe in the Viper brand and because I will have a ton of electronics in my Jimny for both pleasure and work, I have partially installed (have to complete) a Viper 5706V two way alarm kit, which has remote locking (figured the weird 3 wire pulsing) immobilizer, remote start etc.

I will install a field disturbance module which will trigger a vocal warning that you are too close to the Jimny before even touching it, this is great for soft top Jimny's. I will have HAM radio antennas on my Jimny which can be removed easily, so the field disturbance will help protect them in case the buggers do not trip the vibration/shock sensors while trying to steal the antennas.

An alarm system is a great deterrent and gives you peace of mind

If you guys need wiring codes and alarm info I can post.

Can you get those field disturbance units as standalone devices? I've been looking but can only find them as part of a full alarm/immobiliser kit costing upwards of £500.

I have never looked up stand alone units, the one I have works in conjunction with my Viper Alarm. These do come with its own siren etc., so it might be able to. Can look into it later for you.
