Hi Everyone
I am looking for my first Jimny and have viewed some terrible examples today. I have arranged to view the following tomorrow but would like some considered opinions/advice please.

Hi,
Let's take it that this is a clean and honest car, (just to keep things simple) you must remember you are paying a dealers premium on this. It is reasonable to look for peace of mind to be included in the deal. Some kind of short warranty would be nice. You would be wise not to buy too far from home as you might need to revisit them on occasion. Try to get a feel as to whether this dealer has any experience of 4x4s. I'm sure other members will offer plenty of advice on this specific model.

Welcome to the forum. On the face of it it doesn't look too bad. But that is over the internet and it's virtually impossible to tell with any certainty. Have you read the buying guide in the Jimny information section on the top banner of the page?

Ah, the dreaded low mileage, one lady owner.
Carry out a thorough check on these.
1. Check that it does not have death wobble, do a test drive with a lot of playing around with the speed between 40 and 50 mph. Why? because lady will have driven it occasionally on salted roads and then left it standing on the drive so the lower kingpin bearings rust solid.
2. Check for rot behind the headlights and in the boot floor, again because it is driven infrequently and then stood around with salty water on it.
3. Could almost be on its first set of tyres, tread will be wonderful but the sidewalls will be perished, check the date code on the tyres regardless of tread.
Do not be put off by the above, it could be perfect. Just do not by lulled into a false sense of security. If I had a pound for everyone who has phoned me and said "I have just bought a low mileage, one lady owner car and the steering is strange........"

Don’t touch it with a barge pole.
A - there’s no way an 02’s worth £6K, a good one might be worth half that.
B - the body’s rotten, check out the MOT history at
www.check-mot.service.gov.uk
Failed in May on rusty rear body mounts. Boot floor, sills, front body mounts, etc will follow.
