I think I mentioned lubrication of a avm457 hubs helped remove a squeak I was having. Turns out it was a sticky plaster on a bullet wound. The noise came back and then some, grinding like a caliper without any pads, nasty noise. Anyway I thought it was the hubs and reverted back to the none functioning vacuum ones to eliminate and keep the grot out of the wheel bearing. On inspection of the avm it's evident that the hardened race that the inner drive dog runs in has collapsed. Now waiting to see if the race is replaceable or rather if its available as a separate component. I'm not optimistic. The hubs have been excellent and have had 5 ish years and about 70000 miles on them with only a couple of drops of oil every second service so im not going to be negative. It does however suggest that they are not an indefinite fit and forget item and will wear eventually. Its just unfortunate that it looks like I will have to buy a new pair when all i really need is a 5 quid thrust bearing thing.

It seems to be entirely proprietary to these particular hubs. I have been looking for over an hour now for something even close to the same shape and nothing. I haven't given up yet though.
