Head gasket blown was created by invisible
Feel like a fool, bought a 2008 Jimny for £3500 from a dodgy dealer in Stroud - head gasket gone as well as rusty sills.
Is this economic to repair? Should I take this opportunity to replace with Vitara engine?

If it's within 6 months of purchase the you are covered under statute for them to repair it to a suitable standard. Trading standards are your friend.

Why would anyone buy from a dodgy dealer?
How long have you had it....it's an 11 years old car after all's said and done.
As Lambert says you have some recourse if it's a dealer......but you may have to prove they knew about the head gasket failure.
Also what does the bill of sale say.....could be spares/repair at that age.
"replace with Vitara engine" the later model M16A VVT? bit spensive....maybe the Liana VVT?

They are pretty tough engines. A straight forward head gasket change would be my strategy of I was confident that there was nothing serious around why it had failed

Thanks for replies.
I ran it through a ‘proper’ MOT:
Rust (£500 worth of welding needed)
Blown head gasket
Broken front spring
Needs front discs / pads.
It’s a 200&.
I’ve been offered £400 for parts. Do you think anyone would offer a bit more for it if they wanted to fix these issues?

In working order it's worth way more than the cost of getting it there. Whomever has offered you 400 quid is out to make a killing at your expense.
