Do they have a captive nuts on them or do you have to remove back door inner panel. many thanks dawn

I see from a following post that you got the carrier off the door. Well done!

I (at 70) have not been able to undo the 4 bolts on my car, way too tight. See Thumbnail below.

Could you have a read of my topic and offer any advice please?
cheers George

Are you using a torque wrench George?

Hope not. A torque wrench is for tightening to a set torque, not undoing tight bolts or nuts. A long bar and socket should do it. If not, get a longer bar.

Steve.

I always use a wrench for bolts that wont budge. I meant as opposed to a spanner.

I'm probably getting my terms mixed up. I mean a simple socket wrench. I...just put it in reverse. It gives a bit more leverage, especially for people with arthritis etc. I see nowt wrong in that, ive used em on stuborn bolts loads. Works a treat

I got my dad a little 1/2 inch makita battery impact wrench as he has difficulty with his hands and arm strength. It's the smallest 18v one they do but it will just about knock a wheel off. He uses it with all manner of adapters to do things he hasn't been able to for years previously. He swears by it round the house.
