As subject, did they all have immobiliser chip in key body?
Chap on Land Rover forum has one with a plane metal key, so it's been disabled, some don't have it, or a key body is taped inside his column near the key barrel.
Don't know, just wondering?

As far as I am aware they've all had a chip in the key. So probably the chip is in his column near the ignition tumbler?

I had an early single cam on a W plate and that had an immobiliser with a chip in.

When searching around for chips to replace and add to my car, i found there are aftermarket gadgets that can replace the immo chip you can hook up to the wiring.
I think they looked dodgy so never bought one.
Beware there are several different series of chips to different Jimnys if you should try to replace.
Best is to do this with an proper shop so you do not have to buy these gizmos with a lot of trail and mostly error..
