Internal storage ideas? was created by Gadget
I've managed to squeeze an extendy wheelbrace, jump leads, extinguisher, warning triangle and some small bits into the rear storage bin, but still have a fair amount of stuff I'd like to carry (tyre pump, first aid kit, bulb kit, tools etc).
I need 3 seats retained full time for me/wife/son and ideally would like all 4 accessible. I've been thinking of building a storage box out of MDF that sits next to the driver-side rear passenger, on top of the wheel arch, attached to the side of the car using the luggage hook mount points below the window. If I cover it with black vinyl it might look vaguely ok, although my DIY skills are not that great.
Anyone have any cool solutions for in-car storage they can share?

How accessible do you want the 4th seat? Is it OK if it's tipped forward, and the box will be removed when needed?

That's my fallback solution, but trying to avoid needing to have a seat flipped - plus I'd still need to work out how to secure the box, otherwise my son is going to get mushed every time I take a right hand turn

Any particular reason you want it up on the wheel arch?
Yes, I ask all the questions.

It just seems the obvious spot - nice flat space where I could make it into a sort-of arm rest and not squeeze the 4th person in the car too much

I managed to get more into the rear cubby than expected. Even my compressor. Jump leads in a carry case and folding shovel are under the drivers seat. There is a fair bit of room under there. Any rear passengers will use drivers side, not disturbing my seat position once it's set
