The MK3 should in theory be just as good with a software update to MK4 specs, but maybe the controller for allgrip is different as well? Or is it in the ecu?

Interesting. Not having tc on either of mine I would be left resorting to the selective use of left foot and hand brake to get off those, not impossible but not so effortless as the 1.5.

It seems the low range abilities are equivalent, albeit in the test of the older car the driver is more reluctant to spin up the wheels enough for it to kick in.
I guess if the ECU can be modified and the low range traction control programming cut and paste into the high range folder they will be equal.
