New White SZ5 - Recommended Oil SAE OW-16, API SN. was created by Robob
I received my new SZ5 last week, - reading the Owners Manual I note it recommends a modern thin SAE 0W-16 engine oil. Obviously the new K15B 1462 cm3 engine has been designed with this in mind but will it wear well?
Two other good points are that the coolant does not need to be changed until 100,000 miles or 96 months and it has lovely spacious wheel arches that allow it to be easily washed down - It is almost like I could clamber inside the arches myself! !

Can anyone check the handbook for the 2019 Jimny and see what it says wrt oil viscosity? There is normally a large overlap in grades depending on environmental conditions.
I'd never heard of 0W-16, and assumed it must have been a typo, but a quick Google describes it as follows
"SAE 0W-16 oils, which can offer additional fuel economy benefits compared to SAE 0W-20, SAE 5W-20, SAE 5W-30, and other higher viscosity oils, have been in use in Japan for some time. In fact, Shell has been producing SAE 0W-16 oils for Japanese OEMs for use in vehicles sold in Japan since 2014."

Hello Colin,
Other oils listed in Owners Manual are Ow-20 and or 5w-30 as alternatives.
