BBC...
That might explain it...
While I was in the Bahrain (Middle East) during the "Arab Spring" the BBC were reporting on the events taking place at the Pearl Roundabout. My apartment block was very close to these events and what was coming out of my TV on the BBC channel did not match what was taking place out in the streets. In fact the BBC reports were pouring petrol on the whole situation by mis-reporting everything; it was unbelievably biased.
Up until I witnessed this, I had always trusted and believed the BBC to be even and fair. However I was so angry it drove me to write a strongly worded snotogram to the BBC, which for me now just stands for "British Bullsh1t Corporation".
The other channels we got on TV while we were there were also bad; Sky News were possibly the better of the UK channels but still not accurate. Of all the TV news we could get I would say that Al Jazeera news was most even and reflected the situation most accurately.
Since then I have lost all faith in BBC reports and feel that they try to discreetly force some views on us such as the one you mention taking place at the Cenotaph.
There certainly may come a time when all the "Lest We Forget" is finally diminished through the passing of time, but for now there are far too many of us who still remember their (injured) grandparents, but until that time comes, the BBC should keep their own agendas out of our homes.
Sorry for getting a bit of a rant going here, but its an emotive subject for both me and my family. and I think I would not only have been growling at the TV -I would have been screaming at it.
IF IT AINT BROKE, KEEP FIXING IT UNTIL IT IS

The problem with the BBC to my mind is that they believe they are impartial only on the evidence they present themselves.
