Four wheel drive was created by Nickfortey
Hey folks just had to re register as somehow my old login had been identified as spam.......just a quick question my Mrs has a Jimmy that is currently stuck halfway down a bank, the front wheel drive has stopped working, there is no click when the four wheel drive is selected but bizarrely the 4WD light comes on solid as if everything is ok. Any one got any advice on where to start looking for a fault, secondly I’m just about to pull it out with my L200 but the recovery points on the Jimmy look kinda feeble so was gonna put a military grade 4 tonne strap through the recovery eyes and round the front axle, any one got any thoughts on that? Thanks in advance

No, I don’t think the hubs are engaging but the light is coming on to say all is good, she has no 4WD at all, she uses the Jimmy to visit people who live off the beaten track as she is the district nurse, the back wheels are just spinning and the fronts doing nothing at all in 4 high or 4 low

I know that’s what’s throwing me, I’m expecting the light to flash if there is an issue with the hubs but no it’s on solid it’s got the old manual lever transfer box and there is no click that I normally hear when the hubs engage

There is a bodge that can make the hubs engage by screwing a bolt into a hold drilled & tapped in the middle of the hub. Obvs its a bit permanent, but when the t-box is in 2wd it will just spin the props and suck a bit more fuel.
Otherwise its tow strap time. dont wrap it around the axle tho, use the standard tow points and take it very easy. remember its light for a 4x4
