Yeah with no lift/smaller tyres there would be issues on our 2 day trip  99% would be no problem, but theres a few that just need more ground clearance, flex and locker(s).

The trick seems to be the lockers rather than any huge lift. Bigger tyres are going to give more diff clearance, but that means gearing changes to have any power (and clutch!). Jimnys are narrow enough to take different lines to avoid ruts, after that its just traction & loud pedal :-)

Pickup/tipper, R7me gearbox & 6.4 Rocklobster, 31" Toyo MT, 2x ARB air locker 3.9 diffs in braced axles, 6" total lift, Floating rear conversion, Raptor painted, CB, Recaro's, Caged, etc, etc...

I'm fitting a Quaife ATB diff in the next few weeks, this will give me probably just enough confidence on the slippy stuff, to get myself in bother........

I had an old FJ that was pretty standard but fitted with factory LSD that worked well and I had much more confidence in it, than I do the jimny. I know the jimny is as good, if not better, off road but I also know how easily a puddle of mud will engulf open diffs, no matter the tyres.

The ATB isn't new to me, I ran them in mini's and escorts in the past and it's a top tarmac tool and although I've only run them on gravel, I'm sure it will be a big positive off road too. I can't wait to start putting the arse out on the jimny, seeing the little tonka drifting wet roundabouts should be a sight.....

When I see the cars capabilities once it's fitted is when I'll decide on final ride height, I'm on 15mm seats at the moment with KYB road springs.
I might go to Eibach +30mm before my final stab which would be Trailgear comfort +50mm. My desire to keep the car looking standard may have to accept a small lift.
