This is the problem with second cars , you lay them up when something goes wrong with every intention of fixing it next weekend after you have been paid and suddenly its 6 years later and it's still as you left it only now needing to be recommissioned as well as having the original issue fixed. That said well done Martin for getting it rolling again just don't let it slip for another few years! As for branding, what about the lettering 2 feet tall wrapped over the bonnet and side like a sash?

That is so true. My Junior gets MoT'd each year but that is a pain as it is SORN'd Plus I want to do jobs to it like replacing a sluggish wiper motor but it seems to get low priority.11/60 wrote: This is the problem with second cars , you lay them up when something goes wrong with every intention of fixing it next weekend after you have been paid and suddenly its 6 years later?

My problem was the extent of the damage meant it was not a quick fix so it was easy to put it away and not get around to putting the effort in.
Across the history of this forum I see people come and go and then come back again. They always seem to regret selling the Jimny that they had first and even try to buy it back in some cases. Therefore I did not sell her as sitting in the garage costs nothing and let her wait until I got my MoJo back. It was not that I lost my love for Jimnys, it was more that I lost the desire to lay underneath a broken one with years of dirt falling down on me every time I touched anything.
I have decided that part of the issue was the level of off-roading that I was doing meant that something was always broken. Hence the decision to go for more of a pavement princess this time in the hope that I will not spend all my time fixing her.

That is partly why I am not going the remould route. I have nothing against remould in terms of reliability etc but all that extra rubber on what was already a tyre carcass means they are very heavy. Therefore I am looking at "first use" tyres.

31" I have a set of 33's on my Pajero, what a racket! But they'll look great on the Jimny. Mind me asking how you managed to break it in the first place?

a long time ago on a galaxy far far away.........
BigJimny 2011 meet-up at Wagtail. My son was driving alone and came back to the start and said "Dad, its driving funny"
it was certainly sitting strange.
And the front was definitely stuffed
The panhard rod had ripped off, so we ratchet strapped the axle across and drove it on the trailer.
When I got home I was doing some other work - see here www.bigjimny.com/index.php/bigjimny-blog...gh-it-all-goes-wrong
And we found the rear axle was ripped clean off the mounts
Not an uncommon fault as the mounts are stupidly thin and corrode away. But with the front axle and rear axle damaged it was into the garage she went...
