Evening all,
I'm new to the forum, so hello!
I've been on the hunt for a new car and have been drawn to the Jimny, hence me ending up here... after stalking the forums for a while.
Im an engineer so spend a good bit of time on farmland etc and was looking for something that can get around the sites and save me having to carry soil samples etc everywhere.
As i work all over the northwest and commute between chester and manchester a few times a week i need somehting that can do roads and fields, reliably.
So ive been looking at picking up a jimny and then:
2" lift kit with castor correction bushes & some new 205/75 tyres & and 30mm axle extensions.
Ive read different opoinions on whether I need shock relocators and was wondering what the general consensus is.
I may want to get in to doing a bit of greenlaning as i believe there is a club manchester way, but this will be in the furutre.
I just wanted opinions on the suitability of the car, and then the modifications ive planned as well.
Cheers,
Humble10

Welcome to the club. You don't have to use caster correction bushes for 2" lift if you don't want too (I haven't)
205/75/15 tyres, you don't need to lift it at all. Wheel spacers are up to you, some like them, I would not use them.

Hi 1066Boy,
Thanks for the response.
The only reason for the lift would be purely for the extra clearance, I doubt I'll go for any bigger tyres as I'll be on the road Quite a bit.
For castor correction I was told it kept the steering as it was meant to be. As opposed to being messed with by the lift.
I read the spacers make the ride a bit more stable. What is it you don't like about them?
Cheers,
Humble10

The lift wont give you anymore clearance under the diff's just more room for bigger tyres.
Bigger tyres are the only thing that will give you more "under axle" clearance.
Up to 2" lift the is only a small amount of change of caster, its up to you if you want to do it.
The spacers will increase the track of the vehicle but also add to the stress on the wheel bearings
also add to the chance of it developing "death wobble" imho. Although this is a tricky subject.

Haha, cant believe I didn't think about that the clearance thing..... stupid.
So I guess it is the larger tyres I need. I suppose the increase from 205/70 to 215/75 is minimal. But these would fit without issue if it wasn't lifted.
I've read a bit on the death wobble..... id rather not get involved with that hahahaha.
Cheers for the responses!

Depends on the ground you are covering. A completely standard jimny will go most places with the right tyres.
Tyre size depends on what front bumper you have. The later ones have a deeper bumper so it may need a little trimming.
With the Mk 1 bumper you can go up to 215/75/15 as long as they are not remoulds without a lift.
