It's one of those things you know about it so are obliged to fix it but how long has it been running without your knowledge? A few days is not the same as weeks or months.

It's not a grease seal as much as a dust seal. If gunk is coming out it's because the Kingpin bearings have worn allowing extra movement of the shaft in the axle tube oil seal and the oil is coming out, washing some cv grease with it.
