Yes because it doesn't have brakes and is therefore way over the unbraked tow limit of the Jimny.

I thought the limit was 350kg? As the unladen weight is 160, that would give me about 200kg wouldn't it?

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationIt's to do with the plated gross weight of the trailer. If you can find an unbraked trailer that is plated at 350kgs that would be ok.
In the UK the Jimny is rated at 350kgs unbraked and 1300kgs braked.
In other countries you may only be able to tow 450kgs braked so check your local regulations in Crete.
As for the gross of 750kgs the Jimny will be fine but I would certainly look for a braked trailer if you are going over mountainous areas. If you are only thinking of around 350 kg gross it should be ok.
Something like this??

I know it's crazy but if you are looking for an unbraked trailer you will be stuck with the small galvanised camping trailers of the type Halfords and others sell.
The Jimny will handle the trailer you are looking at BUT and it's a big BUT strictly from a legal point of view if you get stopped or are involved in an accident it will be illegal.
From a practical view chances are you wouldn't get stopped as the Jimny ,although small, looks fine towing small trailers being a 4x4 but if you have a "foreign" number plate you may or may not get stopped.
If your items are large then your only legal option will be a braked trailer with the added advantage you could probably go up to 750kgs legally.
Having said all that have you checked out the legal position re trailers in Crete?? Do you need to register them as a vehicle in it's own right as some EU countries do?

By 'plated gross weight', do you mean the 'total weight' as described in that link [
www.brenderup.com/en-gb/gb/products/hous...1205s-750kg-_-1205s-
]? Which is 750kg...
Legality is hard. I'll be crossing france, Italy and maybe Switzerland. As for Greece, I've hit a problem... It turns out that trailers in Greece need an equivalent of an MOT. And I cannot get a reg plate to hang on the trailer without one. But trailers in the UK don't need an MOT. What this means is that I will end up in the UK with a Greek plated car and unable to put a plate on the trailer. As I cannot get one without taking the trailer to a Greek testing station first. In other words, it is impossible to drive a Greek car to the UK and buy a trailer there to bring back.
I'm looking for advice on this. To be honest, I doubt most tralers in Greece conform with any of this stuff. But I'd rather be legal. Most people are saying to fake a plate for the journey out, and either sell the trailer when I get here, or get it tested then. How else can I get a trailer here?
Anyway, from what you're saying, I'd be pushing my luck with this trailer, both from a practical point of view in terms of performance, and also legality.
This really is becoming a hassle. Perhaps I'd better go back to roofracks. Anyone recommend anyone who would build a dedicated rack that would bolt onto the rail studs?

Ah yes I did think that. If you had a UK reg car you would be able to drive it legally anywhere in the EU to UK regs.
Having a Crete(Greek) reg car does make it difficult.
Do all trailers of any weight have to be registered??
If you can't get an official number plate that would make things difficult.
If you know any other ex pats over there it might be worth asking?
Otherwise back to plan A and a roofrack lol
Stick a post in the " For sale and Wanted" section of the forum.
