Increasing stability of Jimny for motorway and road use. was created by kevinbarry18
Hello. Just joined.
Has anyone suffered from cross wind buffering in their Jimny om motorways or nation roads.
I have a 2007 stock, unmodified Jimny....travelling at anything between 100 and 160 kph .no that is not a typo on a motor way the jimny gets a bit narly and buffeted about, does any one have solutions ?
I have noticed that if you increase the height of the jeep in my case a roof rack, basket type with supplied spoiler the problem is solved.
The downside is i am loosing a quarter tank of fuel over it crusing range.averaging 400 to 450 km per 40 liters. I have studied this both by what the guage says and what is in the actual tank. Dispite some of the comments i read and hear the jimny being what it is and whats its not..it works perfectly for my needs and return good milage...for those of you who find long distance driving in a jimny a bit much...fit and arm rest..i made sacrifice of my two drink holders on center console..yes i went off topic...but you all know..jimny owners minds never rest..:woohoo: :side:

I had typed a nice long post about the potential cause but the page session expired and it is lost. Short version. Check the tyre pressures 23psi front and 26psi back, check the tracking and then dependent on the age of the car check the steering joints and linkages for wear. It is never going to behave like a track spec lotus but if everything is good then it should be quite stable.

If after checking the basics above you are not happy, think about changing the shocks to something slightly uprated from AVO or Monroe.
Ask Dave from Bits4vits or Martin via the Bigjimny shop.
