Question re Door Check Strap was created by Jimnysgirl
Hello, Me again - well my Dad (bless him) has done most of the little jobs that needed doing on Jimny, sorted the remote locking, replaced the front speakers, fixed the passenger electric window that wasn't working, as well as touching up a few nicks and knocks on the wheels. He is going to change the oil, and filters today, there was no service history with the car, but he says the filters fitted have not been on the car long and the oil is as clean as a whistle, but so we know everything is ok he will change them again.
Todays question is the drivers door check/strap does not seem to be working ie not holding the door in the half open position. Any ideas where we can get onecan the old one be repaired, and as a stop gap can the passenger one, which is fine be swapped with the drivers or are they left and right handed.
Thanks again and thanks to other members who have helped on my other threads. Great Site

Bit of an update - door check sorted - after trying to repair the old one my dad has been to the local breakers and taken one off a Nissan Micra - he says it is a straight fit and either drivers and passengers fit each side. He fitted the passenger to mine saying they get a lot less wear than the drivers. He also said the Nissan ones are much better made using steel instead of plastic that soon wears.

He also said that the yard he uses had no Jimnys - but they did have quite a few Suzuki R Wagons - the interior door handle that we needed for the drivers door are exactly the same - so we are fixed up and even have a couple of spares.
