What kind of return? was created by StealthJimny
Hey all, my JIm is no longer viable to have on the road only because of a chassis made of dust. My question is am i going to make more money back buy selling as a whole or buy breaking it?

Breaking it will be hassle as you'll be forever trying to get a decent amount for the parts. It's ok if you have the time and space but you've also got to be prepared to remove the parts yourself.

Bear in mind if someone wants the wheels or axles it's suddenly immobile!

The easiest thing to do but not the most cost effective is to part exchange it.

You will get a lot more for the parts than the whole thing, but you have to sell all of them.

When I sold the RangeRover, it went for less than I could have got for the gearbox wheels and axles.

Then I might have sold the tailgate, and I'd have been stuck with the rest.

With a Jimny, you will easily sell the axles, and you might sell the front bumper and wings, but there are more rusty ones about now, a few years ago most breakers had been rolled onto their sides.

Not many people want the transfer box non vvt engine & gearbox.

If you have the time and space to break it, you could consider getting a chassis and swapping it over

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

I've broken cars in the past and it was a pain in the rear messaging people then striping the bits of then wrapping them up and posting.
As others have said try and sell it whole or strip the main sellable parts off then get the scrap man to take it away as there's nothing worst than having a half stripped car on the drive according to my missus anyway :)
