Diff filler plugs was created by Barkis21
Hi all went to change my diff oils today the drain ones can be undone no issues but both filler plugs are stuck tight can't budge at all is welding a nut/bolt the best option and where will I get new ones as they are out of stock on big Jimny?

One of mine wouldn't come out the other day whilst fitting a 'new' rear axle... 30 seconds of heat from a blow torch and then grabbed it with a pair if mole-grips and it came straight out...

Are you using a 10mm square drive as the 3/8 is too small?

Big Mole Grips round the outside and a tap with a hammer. That's the only way I found works but as Dave says, a bit of heat helps.

I've had nuts welded to mine to solve this problem now.

There is a nylon washer underneath the flange as a seal, so be careful with the heat.

I tapped mine round with a chisel then did this:

(My stick welding is useless, but it has stayed together for years ;) )

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
