Cv & half shaft spline count

Hello all,

Busy rebuilding the front axle and true to form its not straight forward.

After sourcing a pair of cv's I removed my old ones from the half shafts (had to cut them off, would not budge for love nor money) to discover my half shafts are 29 splines on the wheel end, 22 splines on the diff end.

The new cvs are unfortunately for a 19 spline half shaft

Does anybody know which Jimnys have which spline counts?

Ideally I would get a spare axle from the scrapers but there's no way of knowing how many splines on the halfshafts until the axle is payed for, home and stripped.

The alternative is a Suzuki dealer but at their prices I may as well get a set of long fields!

Any info is appreciated!

If you get full shafts with cv's they will fit complete as a set. I only know of 19 and 20 spline cv's though never heard of 29? The 20 spline replacement cv's seem hard to get hold of/find.

Had the same issue with mine ...I ended up buying a set of i
19t shafts as that size cv is much easier to get hold of and cheaper in the long run

as j999 told u as long u get a set of shaft and cv they all fit

Ended up going to the scrapers today and fetched the 19 spline shafts from an old nail, there's no other way when Suzuki want over £700 for a pair

Did you have any trouble getting the cvs off your old (29 spline) shafts?

The cv's on my new shafts tapped straight off but the cv's on my old 29 spline shafts drove the c clip into the splines splayin them out and ruining the shaft instead of compressing the clip.

Wondering if it's a design flaw with those 29 shafts or if I'm just unlucky?
