Can a Jimny cope with 1000 miles a month? was created by Weaverbird
Hello everyone, I'm new here and I don't have a Jimny yet. I have three dogs and a Jimny looks ideal for transporting them. My concern is that I drive an awful lot of miles, mostly for work, and I can drive over a 1000 miles a month. My question is, will a Jimny be able to cope with that amount of miles or is it designed to be more of a city car? Thank you in advance. :)

If you can cope with 1000 miles a month the car can. Mine did 140,000 in the 10 years before I got it B)

It is "only" 12000 a year. You often find diddly little cars for sale with starship mileages, and think "How could anyone sit in that and clock up 100,000 in 5 years?"

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

It'll cope ok but will you??
Try to get a decent test drive first.
It's quite noisy compared to a medium car and the top speed is app 85mph but more comfortable around 50/60 mph.
It's low geared so revs higher than most cars.
Accept it for what it is and it'll be fine but if you want a motorway car for high speed I don't think it will suit you but only you can answer that. ;)

I started off high and worked my way down ever since :-)

I cover 1000 miles a month in mine on some of the worst tarmac roads imaginable, drive fairly sedately because there's a lot of wildlife. ...If you're prepared to take a little extra time the Jimny is more than capable. ...I couldn't live without mine B)

i bought my jimny on 52,000 miles and its currently on 71,000 miles ive only had it for 9 months and ive done 19,000miles since then ive done two oil changes and changed the spark plugs had no issues whatsoever except from the usual wear and tear when taking it off road, there great little cars and are pretty nippy id say that my car has paid for its oil changes and spark plugs itself as since owning the little jimny and having a towbar ive recovered atleast 8 cars one had been in a accident and i had removed it off the road so it did not cause more danger to oncoming traffic towed plenty of trailers for friends who need to take stuff the tip and now and then you get the free mcdonalds or someone bungs you £20 for helping them out
