I will but it'll be a little while before I start on it due to weather and the fact that it's our daily driver so we'll see.
I would like to know how the non vvt gearbox would perform with the push button transfer box considering the ratios.
I'm no expert on ratios and it's hard getting your head round the calculations but if anyone has any idea how it would pan out in real terms, not theory, on real world speeds/acceleration and would the 1.6 overcome any deficiences or losses due to gearing???
j999pre I know you've done the actual conversion but used a rocklobster so it's not a like for like comparison.

I started off high and worked my way down ever since :-)

The difference between ratios is 15-18%, so if you are currently doing around 4000rpm in 5th at 70mph, with the non-vvt box you would be doing 3,500rpm. For general driving it would probably be ok with the 1.6. For towing I suspect it's going to mean you are working the 1.6 just as hard as the 1.3.

If you were to swap to a non-vvt gearbox AND an electric transfer case from an automatic Jimny then you could have very similar gear ratios to standard.

Regarding Jimny fueling on the 1.6 engine, it seems to be perfectly up to the job. It's the Jimny manifolds that are restrictive.

Yeah on a rough calculation I figured that the non vvt box would give about the same in 4th as 5th in the vvt box and 5th would be a bit of an overdrive on the non vvt box so would use less fuel??
But that was based on gearbox ratios only.
Correct me if I'm wrong
I might have a reliable 08 VVT if I did the whole trans.
I assume the automatic electric transfer box is a straight swap??

I don't tow a lot maybe 3 times a year for a week or two at a time.

I assumed the Jimny fuel system/ manifolds complete would not give me full output on the swift sport engine but I could afford to lose a few bhp
It was a bare engine so I don't have the Swift manifold anyway but at least, according to the others who have done it, the Jimny parts should run fine and the ECU adapt to the 1600 injectors.

Yes that's about right. Whether you'd see any fuel saving I'm not sure, although I doubt it.

An auto vvt transfer case is a straight swap.

Yes, Jimny everything except the block, head and oily bits inside. 1.6 injectors. It might run rough for the first minute or so but the ecu soon adapts.

I'll start gathering a few things but it seems to be a fairly simple process with little outlay apart from the larger engine.
What about gaskets?
I know the sump uses sealant but what about the manifolds??
I know I'll also need the oil filter adapter/screw and oil/filter but is that it??

If so I then just need a few days of good weather but might have to wait a while
