Thanks for help mate, he's a fantastic mechanic but admitted he's not worked on this problem before on a Jimny. He was looking at getting the swivel polished and maybe pounder coated too to hopefully sort problem out but said when he took it all apart the bearings were knackered to and was worried about being able to get bearings back in. My mechanic knowledge is limited lol

I wonder if he doesn't have a press. It would be odd for a mechanic not to have one but you never know.
Without teaching him to suck eggs, show him the "How to" guides from on here for front wheel bearing and kingpin bearing replacement to clear any confusion.

I'm not sure if he has a press or not but even if he hasn't I know he'd be able to get the use of 1. I'll put this too him later and see what he says. Appreciate the advice tho mate. And I'll let you know the outcome. Need it sorting now as its used by the Mrs so the sooner the better.

Spoke to my mechanic this morning and he agrees with what you've said and he had already given the swivel a rub down and said it wasn't as bad as he thought but said the problem is that he wouldnt need a press to get bearings out as the race is damaged and out of shape so the bearings are able to fall out themselves. I hope I got that right lol

does he mean kingpin bearing race is damaged or wheel bearing ?
as kingpin bearings come with a new race anyway
