Give it a really good shampoo (with proper stuff). Then a Really good strong dehumidifier will do the trick.. but the smell is the hardist bit to get rid off.

Silica gel just wont cut it, small dehumidifier will take too long, allowing mould to form which is the main cause of smell and very bad for your health in a closed environment like a car.
Suck as much water out of the carpet as possible with a wet vac including the back if you can lift the carpet. Leave the carpet lifted to allow airflow to the backing. Put an electric fan heater in the car on a thermostat to get the interior to 25 deg C or a bit higher if possible but leave the windows open several inches to allow damp air out. The air movement from the fan is very important.
If you do get a smell, you need a good quaternary deodorizer - your local carpet cleaner should be able to help with a small amount of product to do the job.
