Cable snapped was created by Redsay
Hey guys.

A simple noob query, sorry. I went offroad in my Jimny over the weekend and stick flicked and tore the little cable for the 4wd select. It has separated at the blue plug thing (I am so desperately ignorant, sorry) so I can't crimp a connector to two bits of cable.

So, what do I do?

It's tricky to know without being able to see if but I'm sure there's a way of bodging a permanent repair whether it be by carefully screwing a small self tapper into where the wire has come from and soldering the wire to it or screwing a small self tapper in, carefully cut the head off it and solder a bullet crimp connector to it, heat shrink it and re connect the wire with a bullet connector.

You have to get the perfect sized self tapper so that you screw it in without it breaking through to the other side and shorting it out.

I've done this with a temperature gauge sender before when all the new ones were the wrong resistance.

How much is a new solenoid though?

Once repaired, get a transfer box guard to protect it.
