Less obvious mapping - I use OS maps, yep, the paper copy in conjunction with knowing how to use them. I appreciate that's NOT for everyone, however, iDevices rely on cellular information for their triangulation and are VERY inaccurate in reduced phone signal areas. The reality is, my off road stuff over the last couple of years hasn't been used extensively lol.
There are a number of options routes that you could go down to connect an external Bluetooth NMEA GPS receiver though, although I've never REALLY used them. You're welcome to give my Nokia BT receiver a pop though, I haven't used it for a couple of years.
cheers for that mate, i have a satmap what i use when out on my bike but thought it would be easier for my lad with a larger screen.
when i first got into greenlaning i used a Road angel 7000 and they worked well but are old hat now and i don't have a laptop to run memory map anymore.

Busta wrote: ViewRanger is a very good OS map, tracking and route making app. You can store the maps on the phone and use the phones GPS, so it works whether you have signal or not. Not sure if you can get it on Apple things though.
I use ViewRanger on my iPhone, so you can get it for Apple things, and I agree with Busta, it is good and the maps are not too expensive either.
