Jimny exhaust backbox. was created by BGBrit
Hi everyone, I need to remove my exhaust backbox, tried to pull off the rubbers, but found it difficult to do. I greased the rubbers in the hope of easier extraction but I didn't force it at all, as I need to put it back together. I don't have ready access to parts, living out here in the wild east... Has anyone done this successfully, or is the rubber parts a part that must be cut away and replaced, they look in very good condition.
Also the exhaust looks to me to be an alloy, I always thought they were made from mild steel. Does anyone what type of metal its made of..
Cheers

You can put a screw driver down the side of the hook on the exhaust and expand the rubber whilst pulling it off

Yes, thanks for that j999pre,,,, It certainly looks strong enough to be handled that way, I will go ahead with confidence now, just my other thought should it be replaced, should be ok then......

You can definitely remove them, I recently replaced the back and mid sections of the exhaust.
Just persevere with it, it'll come out eventually.
The exhaust will be mild steel, it might just have an aluminium paint finish.

That's an original Suzuki exhaust, its aluminized steel.

Yes I think you are right there are no brushes makes or paint runs, so its 6 years old and due for the knackers-yard soon.
Do you know where, I can get a replacement rather than go to a dealership?
