Fuel tank was created by Daniel30
Does anyone else's tank make a whooshing noise when they undo the filler cap at the petrol station, I've just been reading a thread on an engine failing to start and this was one of the suggestions if the fuel tank was vented properly?? Mine is really loud and I was wondering if it was a problem that was starting to accur if this makes sense?
Cheers

As above, it is supposed to, the tank is sealed to prevent any fumes escaping except into the carbon cannister by the alternator.
Air can get in, but vapour can't get out, so when the fuel is warm, you will get a hiss of vapour escaping.

If it never hisses, then likely the tank is leaking, usually around the filler spout where mud gets between the rubber hose and steel spout. (Make sure you keep this area clean)

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
