Hello all,

I have bought a set of jimnybits front and rear recovery points and they look fantastic. Unfortunately I had an accident a couple of months ago and the passenger side chassis rail on the left side is bent. Not dramatically, but enough that the recovery point for that side won't fit, and I haven't been able to straighten it. I was just wondering if a single front recovery point on the driver's side would be sufficient for recovery? Is a single point strong enough?

Thank you very much

Err it depends on how stuck it is. If it is on its chassis rails in a swamp then one recovery point will not be enough, if however you need to be winched onto the back of the breakdown truck then yeah one will be fine. Personally I would be trying to get the other to fit as two are always better.

One recovery point is more than suitable for any situation. but requires that it's welded properly to the chassis. Meaning you need to weld it to the actual chassis, not the thin sub-rails that the front bumper is mounted to. If in doubt what I mean, take a look. It's pretty clear to see where the welds are.

Of course it's better with 2 recovery points like if one is stuck in the mud or such. For only 1 is needed for recovery.

Thanks for the advice guys! Unfortunately I was unable to attach the recovery point to the damaged side so I only have one at the front (but both at the back). The jimnybits design is bolted rather than welded, although it does seem extremely secure. I'll just have to be very careful when using it. My plan is just for light offroading in any case. Thanks again for your help though.
