Evening every body hope your all well.
Well my crankshaft sensor arrived to day
So after work I set about fitting it. The reason
being to stop the car conking out when its hot.
I loosened the bolts on the alternator and levered
It well away from the engine as I have read on
the forum. There was no sensor there!!! Had a look
behind the starter motor and no luck there.
Tried to follow any wire that ran along the engine
block. But only found a single wire running under the
exhaust manifold.
My Jimny is a Spanish built soft top.

My VIN number is VSEFJB33C00102676 and engine number is G13BBS62592.
Year 2000 W reg

Does anybody know where this sensor hides!
I changed the Cam sensor on the back of the engine and the cam belt/pulley last year.
Hope there is someone out there who can point me in the right direction.
Regards,
Ian.

If you have a crank sensor at all will be under the crank pulley in the sump, yours is the change over year so may not have one

G13BB jimny's don't have a crank sensor, instead they have either 11 or 13 lugs/flags on the cam ring for the cam sensor (can't remember what number it is).

G16B baleno's etc have a crank sensor but their cam ring only has 3 lugs/flags as a result.

if you're having idle issues try removing & cleaning the hoses going from the rocker cover to the intake manifold including the PCV valve that is attached to one of them. if they're blocked though (as they were in mine) you'll be experiencing a bad flat spot on initial acceleration & also really bad fuel economy. also if they're blocked it's likely that your entire inlet manifold, particularly around the EGR valve is also gunked up & really needing a clean out.

hope this helps.

Sorry graphicx I have to correct you. Some g13b soft tops do have a crank sensor where I mentioned and have the cam with less flags on them. Hence why I mentioned the change over year when they start appearing. The early hard top doesn't then that changed to the m13a then the m13a vvt. However the soft tops stay with the g13b but added the crank sensor and swapped straight to the vvt for the last ones 2005 onwards.

Checking the other parts you mention is sound advice

Just to reiterate that some G13bb engines have crank sensors, mine is a 2002 soft top and it has one!
