Hi, Dyl.... thanks for the comments....
That's actually made of 10mm marine ply (which is probably overkill, but I had it anyway), with 3mm non-slip rubber checkerplate on top.
Didn't make a template, just measured it all carefully and transferred the results to the bare board, then cut and sanded. The bit directly behind the seats is approx. 20cm wider than the rest, and extends to the back of the cup holder, which, when the seats are rolled forward, gives a handy little storage area underneath which cant be seen from outside.
The 2 small and non-removable studs ( except with a grinder!) which stick out from the wheel arches prevent the floor from dropping straight in unless you cut out a small recess on either side. But if you roll the seats forward, the floor slides in under the 2 studs without the need for the recesses.
You will lose the use of your jack well unless you build in a small hinged hatch hidden under the rubber.....I didn't bother 'cos my jack, etc. is on the floor behind the seat.
Offcuts from your rubber can be tailored to fit the little storage areas on either side (see pic!)
I have 3 Jimnys and I've done the same in all of them, it gives a massive cargo area...the mucky ring in the pic was just after I'd had 5 x 31/10.5/15 mud tyres in there
AND...it allows you to easily monitor the relentless march of the metal moth underneath
Hope this helps, mate...if you need anything else, come back to me.
Gus

That looks very neat!
I plan to do the same but in ply.
How did you create a template for cutting out the base?

Please excuse the dirt, she's a worker not a looker. I use my jimny for stalking and dogs. I made up a bulkhead that doubles up as a tray to utilise more space.
I can put three sika hinds in the bottom and have my rifle and coat etc on top away from dirt and blood.
Dogs can't be lickin me ice cream either when its upright.
The ibc is handy for what i do as i just take it out and hose it clean.
I could have made it tidier but its just for muckin about in

I got my Jimny last Thursday and, having read this forum, thought I better get this done as soon as I could. Someone said earlier that if you don't do it straight away you fill the back up with 'stuff' - I have plenty of that. The bloke I bought the Jimny from took the back seats out for me. He left the little silver brackety bits that others seem to have taken out. My mechanical knowledge and ability is diddly squat so I didn't risk trying to take them out in case the wheels fell off or the bottom fell out of the car.
So I've made the floor round them.
I used some 12mm marine ply that I had, and put a couple of coats of varnish on it - mainly because I like vanishing. My boat spars are varnished to within an inch of their lives. It's a boat with a stick and a hanky - I can't manage a motor as outboards are unfathomable things with a life of their own. And they never work for me. Which is why I haven't tried to open the bonnet of the Jimny. Even if I got it open, it would all be mystifying underneath so I don't go there.
I've put carpet over the ply (I did do a hinged lid for the place where the jack lives - I'm not sure why as I can't see me attempting to use the jack but there you go, other pictures had access for the bits and pieces under there). Then I put some plastic sheeting - overkill I think, and it will probably get chucked out, but I had it lying about and thought I would use it.
The dog likes the end result, which is pleasing.
Now I have to see if I can get the pictures attached.
