Hi there.
Was having a look thru the forum and found a topic about crash test ratings...so i decided to post my findings.
This was my (first) jimny.
This is a head on collision, i was doing 70kph (about 45mph), the other guy as doing about the same speed. he was coming the other way and right before we pass eachother, about 5 meters from me, he suddenly swerved into me. didn´t have time for evasive manuevers, only saw a light in the corner or my eye.
i was lucky he caught me on the driver's front corner, and not flush on my grill.
he was in a 206, his front end dissapeared, he was incarcerated, his passanger was projected, but no one was seriously hurt. i got out by my own means (thru the passenger door), only had a tiny friction scrape on my knee from the jeans and a sore chest from the airbag and the seatbelt.
this is a 2005 ddis jimny.happened in febuary, i now have a 2000 1.3 m13a non vvt jimny, and it's much much better, apart from looks cuz that non functional hood vent looks really good

i have no idea where my legs went during the crash...

if you notice, behind those hanging wires right before the door, the chassis was almost cut thru, i was lucky he was a 206 and not something big and solid like a german barge...still, coming out unscaved was impressive

Oh my word!

You never think of a chassis bending and the body going with it like that! That is phenomenal!

Thank you for sharing that with us.

I'd like to see a rear impact if anyone has any pictures - say of a Jimny shunted up the rear by another car quite hard. I shudder to think what would happen to rear seat occupants if a lorry hit one in the rear! There's not much space between the rear door and the rear seats with the small boot.
