Help please failed MOT CO2 emissions was created by Sasquatch
Hi,

I have just purchased a Suzuki Jimny 1999 1300 16V. Its done 110000 miles.

Took it for an MOT today and failed on high CO2 emissions. The lowest readings,

CO2 0.54% should be under 30%

HC 144ppm this was under the 200 ppm limit

Lambda 1.02 the limit 0.97-1.03.

The Jimny had not been used for around a year before I purchased it, I have changed oil and oil filter. Air filter is OK.

It did white smoke a bit when I got it but now after a run the exhaust runs clear.

Is there anything I can do to get the CO2 emissions down ?

Thanks.

I gave it a good clean out on the way there and had it running while I was waiting. It did get hot the MOT guy tried a couple of times to get it through.

Sounds as if the cat itself needs replacing. They don't always last the life of the car. Aftermarket ones are about £200, a SGP one is probably about a million quid plus three Faberge eggs and a Picasso
