Spare Wheel Security was created by virginian
Iv'e had my spare wheel carrier off the back door for a spruce up, & while putting it back together again, I've noticed all 5 securing bolts can be got at through the 3 spoke alloy fixed to it. Has security ever been a problem, & if so is there a fix.

If you dont intend taking it back off get the bolts welded on to the bracket or grind them so a scocket wont fit over them or cut a steel sheet and place it in the holder before putting the spare wheel on

Thats given me an idea. Two pack epoxy 2 opposing fixing bolts. That should deter them. The wheel itself has a locking wheelnut, and that cheapo plastic shield would be a further deterrent. Happy days

I've never read or heard of it being a problem to be honest. So I wouldn't worry.

Put a cover over it and no one else will notice the issue.

it was a big problem on Pajeros a few years ago. On my Junior one bolt is a stud and accessed from inside the door. You could do something similar.

You could replace one or two of the bolts with a post bolt which has a slot head for a screwdriver. These are hard to shift even when access is good.
