Oh woe-is-me ! lost 4th gear was created by Zee Zee Top
My poor little Jim Jam has lost fourth gear when cold (top on the auto box). Will not engage until the Jim is really fully warmed up after about 3 or 4 miles of driving. Only done nine thousand miles since new.

it's going into hospital next week for a warranty fix.

Sad end to the year.

:(

Sure it is 4th that isn't working?
The torque converter lock-up won't operate until the gearbox is hot, on my Rav-4 that is after about 7 miles this weather.

Don't know about 4th (overdrive). Some modern ecus won't select it until the engine is hot, to appease the tree-huggers and reduce emissions.

Take it back as it is under guarantee though and get a technical opinion ;)

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Yes it's going back to the main dealer. They didn't seem phased by it.

As for eco tree huggers, its not good doing 45 mph @ 3500 rpm for the first few miles.

Must be a fault as it always dropped into top around 40 until the last couple of weeks
