If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

I can't get it off!
I can't see it properly, so what part of the brittle frozen plastic do I squeeze?
The shortest sides (90 degrees to where wire goes in)
The longest sides?
I need it off now, and all that is holding it in is the plug.
I can't get any tools to it working down the little hole between the radiator and the engine.

Crisis over, I just chiselled it off with the screwdriver
No idea what held it on, hope it goes back in the new one...

Cheers
I squeezed both ways as hard as I could with numb fingers, but the plastic is rock hard in the cold, and it made no difference.
Stuck now until Tuesday until the re conditioners open again and I'm not working late.....
Whats the betting that there will be 8" of snow on Sunday and I have to use The Other Car Monday Tuesday?

Thanks, I'll bear it in mind.
I'll see how much an exchange one is Tuesday (and whether they are in stock).
Mine was seized solid this morning, when I got it off it turned backwards with some rubbing, now it is in the house it seems perfectly ok.
(no water has come out, so it can't be frozen, I expect it is a brush worn out and chewed into the slip rings, but when I took the lid off there were far too many screws to undo)
Cheap Denso rubbish, can't have done more than 140,000 miles
