hello all. I have just bought a 1999 jimny. I have been looking for a while and am most pleased to have found one with very little rust.

I have a few questions, as im sure any new vehicle owner would have. I hope you dont mind if i put them to ye.

Will daihatsu fourtrak rims fit a jimny? is the pcd / bore the same

what modification would i need to make to fit 32 inch tyres? (7.50R16 agri tyres)

I bought the car for my girlfriend, but im planning on taking it into the forests and up mountains at the weekend. So im thinking ill buy a second set of extreme tyres for such activities. I have a fourtrak with agri tyres (dumper tyres) -

If i could fit those that would save me some coin, however i know that will mess with the gearing a lot. would i have to do a body lift also?

the previous owner had it for a while and carried out some work on it, but never put it on the road. He said the back brakes were a mess and also the clutch, so he replaced them. However it pulls to the left on hard braking. he said he had not done anything with the front brakes. so the front right brake seems to be weaker for some reason, this will need investigation.

looking online, the timing belt looks easy enough to replace, compared to other vehicles it looks simpler. the car has 100,000 miles done, so reckon it must have been done by now. okay enough of me rambling....

thanks for reading,
redd .

Its easy and relatively cheap so you may as well do it.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

hahaha, thanks for the detailed answer MysticRich and also to you Rhinoman.

Honestly i cannot see me doing all that, my girlfriend needs the car to drop her youngun to school and id think each and every modification is gonna make it worse on-road. I recokon ill look for some R15 agri tyres, and leave it prettymuch at that. well that and a winch and sliders.

what the biggest tyre i can put on without modification?

yeah ill deff be looking at some lower gearing.

I had R15 tyres with standard hight they fill the arches a treat and no catching on road but I found off road sometimes on braking turning steering, and holes the fronts did rub at back of wheel arch, this is with 30mm wheel spacers though with out didn't catch this was green laning and nothing hard core.

Plus another thing. I found my brakes a bit inadequate with larger tyres. :(
